Pen and ink, digital colouring. Created for Free Comic Book Day 2010. Getchyerself to your nearest comic book store and lay your hands on some free swag! (Insider tip: I know it’s a Saturday, but get there WELL BEFORE NOON, folks —the tables are usually picked clean by lunchtime.)
SUSAN’S ALLOWED TO USE THE CAPS LOCK.
Pen and ink, digital colouring. I knew it was going to be a good day at Day #1 of Boston Comic Con (2011) when a Terry Pratchett fan bounded up to me within 10 minutes of opening, squee’d at this print, and promptly demanded of her boyfriend that he buy it for her. —grin—
Happy Birthday Sir Terry! Thank you for all you create!
Iron Man 3 is in theaters May 3!
Tony Stark having some issues. Oddly enough this idea came to me on a cruise in September 2010 —after watching multiple fellow passengers lurching unsteadily down passageways WHILE WE WERE IN PORT.

Reposting this cutout ink drawing I did back in 2010 of my hometown. Because of recent events, I wanted to make something new, but then I remembered this very personal drawing I made that includes areas of my city that played important roles in my life. The Copley/Boston Public Library area is near the center of the drawing.
I love you, Boston.
Drat. Boston Comic Con is now indeed postponed (NOT cancelled). We were all hopeful, but ultimately this situation is bigger than any of us. In the meantime alternative event dates and times are being discussed —but for now, thoughts and hopes are with the people of my beloved hometown and we fervently hope this madness resolves soon.
The comic book culture took a mere glancing blow today, nothing more. Far more important things to focus on.
More to come!
Catch Storm and all of her teammates THIS WEEKEND at Boston Comic Con at the Hynes Convention Center! Look for my booth and come say hello! Looking forward to seeing you there!
Takes more than THAT to keep Bostonians from getting their nerd on. I’m delighted to be able to announce that Boston Comic Con is officially still a GO for this weekend. An art auction is planned, with all proceeds to go to Red Cross relief efforts. I want to submit an original piece to the pile: what do YOU think would be an appropriate contribution? Page through my galleries and make a suggestion.
Townhouse advertisement, pen and ink, 8”x 10”.
(Client: Walt’s Construction, Spotsylvania County, VA)
One of my earliest-ever sales (circa 1995). Client provided front and side elevations of planned townhouse, I did some major-league extrapolating. Ad ran in local newspaper for one day. Received agreed-upon payment from client and that was that. Total professionalism from start to finish, zero difficulties, zero drama.
The lesson here to all you just-starting-out artists? You most emphatically do not kick off your career drawing Batman and Wolverine.

Happy Birthday Les!
Coloured pencil, done in the style of my “while-u-wait” convention sketches (Boston ComicCon, 2011).
